Watchman’s Rule: Why I No Longer Fight in YouTube Comments

As a humble watchman in these last days, I’ve learned that contention is a trap — even when our heart starts out right.

I recently engaged with a teacher online, thinking perhaps we could reason together — maybe even sharpen one another in humility. But what I saw was this:

• Long, complicated teachings that lacked clear fruit
• Dodging simple questions with pride
• Nasty replies that sought to attack, not edify
• A “viper spirit” of defensiveness and superiority

Even though I asked simple questions, not boasting — I quickly saw how EASY it is to get drawn into a spirit of contention and strife, even when you start out seeking truth.
